One Direction: This Is Us – Film Review

Many people believe that talent shows don’t really find talent. But in regards to One Direction, they couldn’t be more wrong. “One Direction: This Is Us” tells the story of five boys from working class families who all shared the same dream. By destiny, luck and chance Harry StylesZayn MalikLiam Payne Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were brought together, making their dreams come true and creating a global music phenomenon.

The film looks deeper into the lives of each band member; their aspirations and passion for music, their rise to fame and their awareness that although their journey has been incredible, they understand that nothing can last forever and are happy to enjoy the ride. Although they can act very silly and carefree, these boys are very mature and switched on about their lives and the direction that they want to take in the music industry.

The film also shows the impact on the families of One Direction with parents happy for their children, but somewhat sad as well that in a way they’ve lost a child because their sons went to audition for X Factor UK, grew up and technically never really came back home.

As a bonus for fans, this film also shows performances from their “Take Me Home Tour” which they have recently performed in Australia and are about to end in Japan.

I found this film very touching, inspiring, informative and entertaining. It has something for fans and for people who are curious and want to know more about the band. You can’t plan to make a phenomenon, these things just happen. Whatever the magic ingredient is for their success, One Direction must be doing something right.

One Direction are just a group of normal talented boys who are doing what they love, want to help make people smile and just want to have fun. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
