Audio-Technica Unveils Air Conductor Earbuds – the ATH-AC5TW

Audio-Technica stakes out the new frontier of open-ear and airconducting true wireless headphones with the launch of the ATH-AC5TW earbuds. Its unique features and design make it the perfect earphone for prolonged listening sessions, such as podcasts and audiobooks. The user enjoys an immersive audio
experience while remaining aware of the surroundings, ensuring safety and comfort during both outdoor and indoor use.

The ATH-AC5TW features an open design with an ear-hook structure, placing the drivers near the ear canal without obstructing it. Unlike traditional in-ear headphones that use silicone tips to block external noise, this ensures comfort during prolonged wear and allows users to hear ambient sounds.

To deliver high-quality sound in an open design, the headphones feature 17mm ×12mm drivers. Additionally, bass boost algorithms and a dynamic equalizer are employed to enhance low-frequency sound. Each earbud weighs 10.5 grams and supports Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC and AAC codecs. For improved call quality, each earbud is equipped with two MEMS microphones featuring beamforming technology, which reduces background noise during calls.

The headphones are IPX4-rated for water resistance, making them resilient to sweat and light rain. They provide up to 13 hours of continuous playback on a full charge, with the charging case extending total usage time to 34 hours. A full charge of both the earbuds and the case takes approximately two hours.

The ATH-AC5TW supports multipoint connectivity and automatically powers on when removed from the charging case. Available in black and white, the headphones are now on sale for the recommended retail price (RRP) of AU $149 in Australia.
