“American Hustle” is a gangster film without gangsters. I know it sounds rather strange, but in my opinion, the description is accurate. The story consists of two con artists, Irving Rosenfeld and Sydney Prosser being forced to work with wild ambitious FBI agent, Richie DiMaso. Together they must con others and take them down to save themselves in the eyes of the law, and from Richie DiMaso‘s dangerous path.
Although a plot is evident in this film, I consider this film to be more about character development and character interaction. The chemistry between Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner is fantastic, with each character having their virtues and their flaws.
I don’t want to give too much away, so I won’t say much else of it besides the fact that although I didn’t love it, I did enjoy this film. It is well deserving of any praise it gets, even if it’s not coming directly from me.
