Spitfire is a documentary about the Spitfire aeroplane that fought in the Battle of Britain. The film starts with the needs of Britain, due to Germany’s technological developments in World War II for a fighter plane and goes on to show the people and technology that went into designing the spitfire, and its use in WW2.
The people interviewed include the last person alive to see the first test flight and fighter pilots. Cutting between multiple sources of footage, both old and new, and stunning aerial scenes. This documentary uses great cinematography mixed with footage from the time to give a sense of the excitement and fear for the pilots who ended up behind the wheel. The documentary focuses on the pilots and people involved, while giving the right amount of WW2 history.
For those interested in aeroplanes, or WW2 history, this documentary is a must watch.
